| Pepperwood Cove Sign
Signs of some times seen by only some
Pepper Wood Cove sign
green and white it was
well done a hand painted one
and wide
as it rode the roof top of that long
out in the lake pier
is down and into the lake
has been since 1997
She died around the same time
her remains and the remains of her pier
and the pier roof top sign sagged down
into the polluted murkiness of the lake
Two old rickety structures
with many currents tides and storms
over the years and many other things
floated by
Water washed over broad beams
waves in an afternoon blow
loosey goosey long bolt steel rods
After a time got holes worn through
at the wide washered ends
and the bolts pulled through and out
finally with some extra high water
and deep waved wind
of some undetermined nature
blows through all of it our lives our valleys and lakes
it can't all be the same wind
at once can it
Under that pier with all its' pilings
I used to ride the long wide beams
like an otter on a current
when the afternoon winds would push rushing waves
over and through
the underworks of the old pier
but not silently for it would all have a talking
a sounding of underwater wood
clunking logically
unseen parts sliding abruptly to repaired ends
Sort of like an underwater gymnasium it was
lift up arms and let go of the beam
let the wave take you up and down to the next cross beam
the water almost warm and transparent
So you could see sometimes a fish
