P. Emily Youngreen

P'Emily studied Design and Logic and Form at California College of Arts in Crafts in Oakland, California in the late 60's. She left Oakland with her family in 1970 and moved to the Kootenays in South Eastern British Columbia.

With her artist and cartoonist husband, they raised goats, chickens, sheep and Arabian horses on their 28 acre farm. The horses were subjects for her illustrations and paintings displayed in galleries and private collections in Canada and the U.S.

She has worked as a freelance illustrator for the Province of British Columbia, Health News, The National Network of Women in Trades and Technology. Her 'Pet Portraits' have been seen across North America. She illustrated "When Mommy Sings to the Forest" by Leticia Mitchell for Horned Owl Press and two pet journals, "My Dog's Tale" and "My Cat's Tale" by Lorie Glantz, published by Delacorte Press/Random House -Bantam-Dell Publishing. She is currently working on a series of illustrated children's books for a British Columbia author and finding time to work on writing her own two books, Sergio the Kaslo Kitty and the Grandma Stories.

Emily is currently published in a just released anthology of native women's writing titled "Skywoman: Indigenous Women Who Have Shaped, Moved or Inspired Us" published by Native Women in the Arts and Theytus Books.

It is her life-long relationship with horses that has provided a stirrup for her creative ride.
