46" X 60" - Oil on Canvas -
British Columbia's Slocan Valley contains the Slocan River which is 15 miles long and empties into the Kootenay river which then courses down into the Columbia river which feeds the Pacific Ocean. This painting represented for me the interconnectivity of everything; the mountains, trees, waters and the sky; that we are part of the vital energy common to all things becomes so apparent when we open ourselves up to it. I used a technique of overlapping many thin layers of paint, not unlike wash method of water color painting. Some areas demanded thicker paint and become focal points, drainages - creeks and gorges.
