Men's Lounge

Acrylic, Pen & Ink - "3.5" x 8"
on very heavy paper on board

This is an interior view of the Men's Lounge or Smoking Room which is forward of the Ladies Salon on the Passenger Deck. A 'cuspidor' or spitoon which is to the left of the coal/wood heater, serviced the needs of the tobacco chewing passengers and crew. The cast iron heater was an absolute necessity as it provided much needed warmth during the colder months.

Notice the architectural detail of the ship's interior woodwork and the wide windows behind the wrap-around bench in the background.
