Engine Room

Pen Drawing - 10.5" x 8"

There is purpose to this almost overly detailed pen drawing. The engine room takes up the mid section of the ship's beam and was arranged with deliberate, engineered thoroughness. Everything has its' place, and everything, when taken in all together is larger than life. So much energy potential in stillness; so much energy when running!

A perspected view of pipes, pumps, steam piston assemblies that extends from floor to ceiling (which I don't think is the proper nautical term...); from wall to wall.

A persons' function in this environment is merely to attend, to fix and tune, adjust and keep moving in an atmosphere of vibration, heat and yawling motion.
